Samantha Rumbidzai Matemachani from Marondera, is being held by the police on suspicion of stealing an entire herd of cattle.
Authorities assert that Matemachani sold the 18 cattle she was accused of stealing for financial benefit.
Matemachani’s arrest was verified by Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachii, who clarified the gravity of the issue.
“A Marondera woman was apprehended by police in relation to stock theft,” Chazovachii said. “She is slated to appear in court imminently.”

She is expected to appear in court soon. We are urging people to closely monitor and secure their livestock.
The event highlights the region’s growing concerns regarding the security of animals. “Instances of livestock theft in the province have turned into a source of pain for villagers in several regions,” Chazovachii continued, imploring the populace to strengthen protocols for protecting their animals.
“As the Zimbabwe Republic Police, we are warning criminals who are causing sleepless nights to farmers that their days are numbered,” Insp. Chazovachii declared, issuing a severe warning to potential offenders. The police will not think twice about apprehending all offenders.”
Matemachani’s arrest is a serious setback for the impacted farmers and a clear reminder of the ongoing threat that cattle theft poses in the area.
