Minister Barbara Rwodzi today announced the upcoming 17th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, which will take place in Bulawayo from September 12 to 14, 2024.
She said, “This annual event serves as a platform to promote the tourism industry in Bulawayo and Zimbabwe, particularly for small operators who may not have the resources to attend international travel shows.
This year’s expo promises to be even larger and more impactful, with a focus on sustainable tourism initiatives and gastronomy tourism showcases. The Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation Science, and Technology Development will also be participating for the first time, featuring Tourism Innovation Hubs to support youth and showcase their innovative ideas”.
Key highlights of the expo include:
- MICE Masterclass: A dedicated session to capacitate stakeholders on MICE tourism promotion, featuring experts from across Africa.
- Regional and International Participation: Several African countries, including Embassy of Iran, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Tanzania, Iran, Angola, and Nigeria, have registered to participate and showcase their tourism products.
- Conferences: Three conferences will be held during the expo, covering MICE Masterclass, Tourism Scholartic Conference, and Zimbabwe Investment Forum.
- Networking Events: Speed networking sessions and a Buyers and Media Cocktail will provide opportunities for industry professionals to connect and explore collaboration including tourist resort tours in different provinces.
- Awards Ceremony: The Official Opening and Awards Ceremony will be held on September 13, recognizing outstanding contributions to the tourism industry.
With over 400 companies registered to participate and a growing number of international exhibitors, Sanganai/Hlanganani 2024 is poised to be a significant event for the tourism sector in Africa.
