A disturbing video circulating on social media has prompted the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development to issue a warning about fraudsters posing as Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) officials.
The video shows a woman being swindled out of her money by an individual claiming to be a VID official, who allegedly promised to facilitate the issuance of a driver’s license.
The Ministry has emphasized that the individual involved in the incident is not a VID official and that his actions do not reflect the principles and values of the VID.
This incident is not isolated, as the VID has reported numerous cases of fraudsters targeting unsuspecting individuals desperate to obtain licenses quickly.
To avoid falling prey to these scams, the public is advised to:
-Be cautious of fake agents: The VID does not have agents who facilitate the issuance of licenses.
– Follow proper procedures: Acquire a driver’s license by approaching the VID and undergoing necessary driver testing.
– Report suspicious activities: Inform the nearest police station to help apprehend fraudsters.
– Desist from paying money to individuals: Refrain from paying money to those who promise to facilitate license issuance without following proper procedures.
