Murderers Arrested While Cleansing Themselves At A Traditional Healer’s Shrine
A desperate attempt by four suspected murderers to cleanse themselves of a committed crime resulted in their arrest on Sunday at a witchdoctor’s house in Kwekwe.
The quartet had gathered for a cleansing ceremony to rid themselves of the stain of a murder they allegedly committed.
The suspects, identified as Learnmore Chiribani (28), Archford Dube (20), Marshal Chuma (19), and Marvellous Kuchicha (19), were apprehended following a tip-off to the police.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, revealed that the four were suspected of being involved in a murder at a night club in Silobela the previous Friday.
According to Asst Comm Nyathi, the victim, Ernest Moyo (28), lost his life after being indiscriminately stabbed with at least three knives during the incident.
The arrested individuals were found in possession of a Columbian knife, a VI pin stainless steel kitchen knife, and an okapi knife, all of which were concealed in a plastic bag under a block brick behind the witchdoctor’s residence.
“Asst Comm Nyathi stated, “The arrest of the four suspects led to the recovery of a Columbian knife, a VI pin stainless steel kitchen knife, and an okapi knife which were stashed in a plastic bag under a block brick behind the witchdoctor’s house.”
In a separate incident, police in Zvishavane arrested Maphios Mativenga (40) in connection with the death of Simbarashe Moyo.
The victim was found dead in a Honda Fit motor vehicle parked at a deserted home in Mudereri Village, under Chief Masunda.
