There was a time when midweek partying was a thing, long before Mic Inity’s immensely popular Manenberg Wednesday gigs or Legendary Sound’s Red Fox Wedy Wedy Wednesdays.
Top artists like Thomas Mapfumo, Oliver Mtukudzi, Simon Chimbetu and Safirio Madzikatire among many others, filled up venues during midweek in years gone by.
Recently, we know that Jah Prayzah made his crossover to mainstream audiences at Jazz 105 now Eastpoint. And it is at this venue that JP’s homeboy and former protégé, Andy Muridzo, has shown that he can punch above his weight.
The only setback is that bhawa racho I think vano hodha ma drinks mu supermarket … one ends up drinking CHERO or not drinking at all but the Muridzo faithful braves that and more to watch the Chidhafundunda hit-maker perform there every Wednesday.
