NAMA Releasing a Flagship Docu-series
The National Arts Merit Awards is set to release a novel Docu-Series based on the
impact and value of winning a NAMA Award has had on artists. The 9 episode
Docu—series features several legendary Zimbabwean creatives who have pushed
the boundaries and have been recognized on the national and international stage.
According to JCMC Digital Marketing Director Tashinga Madzamba, the rationale
behind the creation and execution of the NAMA Docu-series was “… to show the
general public as well as the art world that when an artist receives a NAMA award it
can change their career and possibly open doors that they couldn’t ordinarily open.”
The Docu-series includes some of Zimbabwe’s greatest creative minds such as Kalai
Faye Barlow an esteemed Film Director, Sean Mambwere a Globally recognized
Dancer, and Chamvary, a wildly beloved and respected radio presenter.
The production is set to release the first episode on the 2nd of February 2024 on the
National Arts Merit Awards YouTube channel which follows the career of Theophilus
Chigumira after winning 2023 NAMA People’s Choice Award for his engaging skits
and comedic excellence.
