NAMA to Launch Film Festival

NAMA to launch film festival.

The National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) will hold the first-ever NAMA Film Festival on January 26–27, 2024. The festival builds towards the 22nd NAMA edition, which takes place on February 24, 2024, at ZITF in Bulawayo.

NAMA is still dedicated to creating prominent venues that promote the arts in Zimbabwe. The Film Festival offers a special chance to highlight one of Zimbabwe’s fastest-growing entertainment sectors thanks to event managers Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation (JCMC) and the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe.

Sterkinekor in Bulawayo will host the two-day festival, which will feature a few special features by up-and-coming Zimbabwean filmmakers in addition to NAMA-nominated films. In order to inform and educate prospective filmmakers, master classes with prominent Zimbabwean and foreign filmmakers will also take place.

“As JCMC, our focus is always on the artist; we seek to showcase the immense talent that this country has both during and after the NAMA awards themselves,” stated Tinashe Kitchen, director of the JCMC. Such programs must continue long beyond the awards ceremony in order to benefit our artists and enable them to realize their potential.
