On July 2, the Republic of Nicaragua cut the ribbon for their new embassy doors in Harare.
Her Excellence The Ambassador, Ms. Nadeska I. Cuthbert, expressed her gratitude to the government of Zimbabwe for receiving a warm welcome since her arrival in the country four months ago.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to H.E. President Mnangagwa and the people of Zimbabwe for their great hospitality. Words cannot express the joy we have felt or the warm welcome and unwavering support for the opening of the Nicaraguan Embassy. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in the enduring bonds of brotherhood between countries built on mutual respect and cooperation,” she said in her speech.
The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Honorable Sheila Chikono, commended the President of Nicaragua for establishing an embassy in Zimbabwe.
“I wish to express my gratitude to his excellence, Daniel Ortega Saavedra, for his decision to establish a residence in Zimbabwe. The opening of Nicaragua’s residence in Harare testifies to the growing of relations between the two countries rooted in solidarity in a fight against unilateral cohesive measures imposed on our beautiful countries.”
“The establishment of the Nicaraguan embassy also shows the increased foreign policy of the nation in Africa,” added Honorable Chikono.
Deputy Minister Chikono also assured the government of Nicaragua and their President Daniel Ortega that Zimbabwe will continue to hold Nicaragua and its principled leadership in very high esteem and will always cherish the strong bond of friendship that exists between the two countries.
She highlighted the need for the two nations to enhance cooperation in areas such as mining, agriculture, education, and the and the security sector, among others.

Nicaragua, which has a population of six million, is an island located in Central America between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
Nicaragua and Zimbabwe have the same historical background, as both nations struggled to attain their independence.
