Knowledge Mangezi, a pastor, is facing criticism for allegedly denying responsibility for a child he fathered with Lindiwe Chiocha in 2010.
Despite DNA tests confirming his paternity in November last year, Mangezi is now demanding a second round of tests, claiming the first results “might have been tampered with.” However, he failed to show up for the scheduled second test last month.
Chiocha’s aunt, Chaturuka, has been caring for the child since 2013 and has confronted Mangezi about his lack of involvement in the child’s life. She accuses him of prioritizing his reputation as a pastor over taking care of his child. Chaturuka claims Mangezi has never provided financial support or acknowledged the child, despite the DNA results.

When contacted by media, Mangezi initially denied being the father but later admitted to impregnating Chiocha, attributing his actions to “youthful exuberance and naivety.” He claims to have been supporting the child financially since January this year but feels he is being extorted. Mangezi now wants to fight for custody of the child and is working with his wife to bring the child into their family fold.

However, Chaturuka disputes Mangezi’s claims of financial support and says the child has been teased at school for not having a father. The child’s birth certificate has dashes in the space for the father’s name, highlighting the emotional impact of Mangezi’s denial on the child.
Mangezi’s actions have raised questions about his integrity as a pastor and his commitment to taking responsibility for his actions. The case highlights the challenges faced by single mothers and the importance of acknowledging and supporting one’s children.
