A United Methodist Church preacher in Zimbabwe, Norest Nyakudanga, tragically passed away while delivering a sermon in Harare on Tuesday evening. The 66-year-old evangelist from the Seke South Circuit collapsed just five minutes into his message at Chisipiti United Methodist Church and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
His death was announced in a Facebook post by a church member and later shared by the Seke South Circuit, stating:
“Treasured evangelist Baba Norest Nyakudanga is no longer with us. He collapsed while preaching at Chisipiti United Methodist Church this evening and later died at a local hospital.”
Nyakudanga was known for his powerful prayers and impactful sermons that changed many lives. He was a dedicated member of the Mubvuwi WeUnited Methodist Church from a young age and served as the chairperson of the newly established Greater Mutoko MUMC Choir.

A memorial service was held at his home in Zengeza, Chitungwiza, on Wednesday evening, with another service planned for Friday at his church circuit. His body will briefly lie in state at home before being taken to Nyaradzo Funeral Parlour for an overnight vigil, after which it will be transported to Mutoko for burial on Sunday.
Nyakudanga is survived by his wife, Taurai Chinyani, and their three daughters: Mazvita, Nomusa, and Nyaradzo.
