Prominent Cattle Farmer Apprehended For Murder
Robert Makado, a well-known cattle farmer and Chairperson of the Masvingo Beef Producers Association (MBPA), residing at 15642 Makuyana Street, Runyararo West high-density suburb in Masvingo, was arrested on murder charges. Makado, aged 49, operates a thriving cattle farm in the Bhuka area.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, confirmed the arrest, revealing that Makado is accused of assaulting his herdboy, Misheck Sinyoro, who tragically succumbed to his injuries a few days later.
According to sources, on January 16, around 1500hrs at Mudavanhu Bottle store in Chief Bere area, Makado confronted Sinyoro and his workmate, Ericanos Regi, accusing Sinyoro of neglecting the cattle and consuming alcohol.
During the altercation, Makado reportedly assaulted Sinyoro with open hands, kicked him all over his body with booted feet, and also attacked Regi before being restrained by onlookers.
Following the incident, Sinyoro returned home complaining of chest pains. The next morning, despite waking up at 5 am, he struggled to perform his usual tasks. Concerned, Regi suggested he visit Bhuka Clinic, although Sinyoro faced difficulties walking.
Later that evening, upon Regi’s return from the farm around 2000hrs, he discovered that Sinyoro was missing, assuming he had not yet returned from the clinic. However, on the following day (January 18), while attempting to wash clothes behind one of the houses, Regi found Sinyoro’s lifeless body in a nearby bush used as a bathing area.
Regi promptly informed Makado about the discovery, but Makado allegedly urged him to keep silent about the incident. Nevertheless, Regi reported the matter to the police, leading to Makado’s arrest.
