The government has selected Wistmer Investments, Prophet Walter Magaya’s company, to restructure the troubled Chitungwiza Municipality’s service delivery system in a ground-breaking step.
The corporation will be in charge of rubbish collection, sewer reticulation, regularization of settlement markets and companies, and water supplies.
“We assure all Chitungwiza residents that they will experience a new beginning in terms of service delivery,” Prophet Magaya told our publication.
“Residents have been held back by people who don’t like progress. Chitungwiza will receive a continuous flow of water. My heart and passion are dedicated to developing my hometown, Chitungwiza, which is always on my mind.”
Prophet Magaya dismissed rumors that he aimed to take over Chitungwiza, saying, “I’m not here to exploit, but to serve.
I won’t charge residents what they can’t afford. Good service delivery will be available to everyone, and some may even get it for free, according to our government’s policy on senior citizens.”
Residents expressed excitement and relief, citing years of neglect by the municipality.
“We’ve petitioned the council about water and sewer issues, but nothing changed. We’re eager to support Prophet Magaya’s initiatives,” said Monica Moyo, a resident.
A different local expressed disapproval of the municipality’s lack of vision while applauding the government’s choice to welcome Prophet Magaya.
“What a noble notion this is. We have experienced issues with water and sewer. The dishonest actions of the council have to stop “he said.
