Venue hosts Mbeu, Kireni Zulu, Bryn K and Gonyeti
Hatizvimirire! That is the name of Mbeu’s debut album to be officially unveiled at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton this Saturday – the very place where the Mavanga hit-maker cut his musical teeth under the tutelage of superstar Dr Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi.
But before that – Mbeu serenades “special” stakeholders and fans at red hot Red Café tonight in a night dubbed Acoustic Thursdays. The event is meant to be a listening session-cum-album review gig where Mbeu will be joined by acoustic set guru Kireni Zulu, rising star Bryn K and ex-Jah Prayzah backing vocalist Gonyeti.
The bar-restaurant, located in downtown Harare opposite the building that houses the iconic Holly’s Hotel and glitzy Private Lounge, has taken over as the new arts and entertainment lifestyle centre in Harare. From poetry Mondays to Acoustic Thursdays, artistes’ roundtables, open mic sessions, tea, coffee and all kinds of beverages to go with the hearty meals prepared by one of the best African chefs – Red Café Harare is becoming the place to be for arts lovers and practitioners alike.
Add to that secure parking, WIFI and friendly staff, and you have one of the best meeting places in Harare’s CBD. Of course, on Fridays and Saturdays it transforms into one of the most happening nightspots in the city after hours, with all kinds of champagne, whiskey, vodka, cognac, brandy, ciders, beers, lagers and draughts as the best DJs take care of business on the turntables.
Red Café on fire tonight …
