Roll call of performers at Odyssey July Fest 2024
As the much anticipated annual Odyssey July Fest 2024 edition takes centre stage in entertainment circles, this publication has found it prudent to parade artists who are billed to perform on the much hyped gig.
Lovemore Chazingwa in Kadoma
The hype could also stem from the mixed grill of Dendera, Hip-hop, Zimdancehall, Rap and Afrobeats.
The parade may not be in any order of rating, therefore reader discretion is advised.
First on our menu is none other than Zimdancehall exponent, Killer T.
Born on 10 January, 1990, Kelvin Kusikwenyu a.k.a Killer T, is a Zimbabwean born and award-winning Zimdancehall artist based in Mbare.
Orphaned at an early age, he is a product of St Peters Primary and George Stark High both in Mbare.
The chanter rose to fame with his popular song _Makarova Ganaz_.
He is known for the signature line, _Hotty Property_, which he usually chants at the start of his songs.
In April 2018, Killer launched a new album Mashoko Anopfuura.
The album has collaborations with other popular artists such as Jah Prayzah who is featured on the song, Hondo .
Enter Enzo Ishall!
The Zimdancehall chanter was Christened, Stephen Kudzanai Mamhere after birth on April 23, 1994.
He has assumed the stage monikers Enzo Ishall or ‘The Stallion’.
Enzo has made hit songs like Kanjiva and Handirare Kuden Kwenyu Futi produced by Chill Spot Records.
He hails from Mabvuku and attended Churchhill High School.
According to media reports, The Stallion fell in love with dancehall music when he was in Upper Sixth Form (Form 6), because he used to stay in Sunningdale which is closer to Mbare, the home of Chillspot Records.
When he finished school he met up with Chillspot owners, Fantana and Levels but, delayed entry into the limelight as he wanted to learn more about the industry.
He finally dropped an instant hit, _Chiita Kwacho_, in 2018.
Born Mukudzei Chitsama on November 18, 1998, the rapper, hip-hop giant and producer has risen fast to stardom.
He is famous for a new style of dropping songs which has made him a household name.
That is Holy Ten for you. Also known as Mujaya, Holy Ten grew up in ZimRe Park and enrolled at Speciss College.
He is married to Kimberly Richards. The couple is blessed with one kid. _Mwana ndakubirai, Pressure, Ndotokuda and Ucharamba Uchipisa_ are part of his list.
Here comes Papa of Song, Papa Pintec.
The prophet has laid his hand on music with remarkable success.
He has charted into areas that are familiar and popular on the Zimbabwean music scene.
He has taken Dendera music as his second calling.
Commenting on his inclusion on the big bill, Pintec was curt: “Dendera music is a sound for all ages.
It does not discriminate as you can see people of all ages and backgrounds dancing or singing along to the beat.
The late legendary Simon Chimbetu left us a legacy that I want to propel further.
My inclusion on the list is not by accident. I am one of the pioneers of the Odyssey July Fest since last year.
I also want to thank and express gratitude to D-Nosh for that recognition.”
Pintec said he was on stage at the inception of Kadoma Music Festival featuring JP, Mafikizolo and Makhadzi.
He reincarnated the late great master of song at that grand gig.
Poptain Yardbwoy, real name, Ameen Jaleel Yaseen is an Afrofusion artist.
He is most known for his 2020 song _Fadza Mutengi_ as well as _Kokai_ and other collaboration songs with artists such as Uncle Epatan and Nutty O.
Farai Gadzani, as Bling 4 was born is famous for his thought provoking lyrics and contribution to the hip-hop scene.
He explores the challenges and struggles faced by gettho youths.
As a Fire Emoji hit contributor, he has seen his stock continue to rise.
His collaborations have earned him wide applause. This year his inclusion on the Odyssey July Fest is testimony to his rising stock.
Last, but obviously not least, on the roll is, you guessed right, Master H.
Born Hillary Marufu in Chitungwiza, Master H settled in Harare, involving himself in illicit drugs substances.
Miraculously, he reinvested himself to become one of the top Zimdancehall proponents in the country.
His hits include the Voltz JT assisted Dhanzi (Nawanadem) which has shot to the top of the charts in Zimbabwe.
The stage is set, artists are ready and the crowd is ready to roar. Brace yourself for this year’s Odyssey July Fest in Kadoma.
