SA Man Accused Of Brutally Rap*ng And Murdering Six Zimbabwean Women
A 21-year-old former convict from South Africa, accused of brutally rap*ng and murdering six Zimbabwean women, is set to appear in court today.
Sifiso Mkwananzi, arrested in 2022, faces charges of raping and killing six Zimbabwean women, along with accusations of robbery in aggravating circumstances and illegal possession of a firearm.
The victims’ bodies were discovered at a panel-beating workshop in Johannesburg, with three of the identified victims being Joyce Moyo, Nyarai Chihota, and Patricia Magaisa.
During a court appearance last Friday, Mkwananzi, represented by his lawyer Advocate Vuyolwethu Maqeka, acknowledged the killings but insisted they were “unintentional.”
He claimed that the murders were not premeditated but occurred as an instinctive reaction during arguments.
The National Prosecuting Authority is expected to present witnesses supporting the allegations of premeditation and rape in today’s court session.
The investigating officer, Mr. Vincent Saunders, believes that the murders may be revenge killings, stemming from Mkwananzi’s 10-month imprisonment in 2021 for rap*ng a commercial sex worker.
Saunders noted that all six victims were killed in a similar manner, and they were all Zimbabweans.
