FIFA has handed Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) president Samuel Eto’o a six-month ban from attending national team matches. The ban extends to all men’s and women’s games across various age groups.
The decision follows two charges related to an incident during the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup match in Colombia on September 11. Although FIFA did not specify the details of the incident, it occurred during the round-of-16 match, where Brazil defeated Cameroon 3-1 after extra time.
In a statement, FIFA noted the sanctions were connected to Eto’o’s “offensive behavior, violations of fair play principles,” and “misconduct” involving officials at the event. The exact nature of the misconduct remains undisclosed by FIFA’s disciplinary committee.
This latest ban comes after Eto’o, 43, was previously fined by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for alleged breaches of ethical standards. Eto’o, a football legend, is renowned for his success on the field, representing Cameroon in four World Cups and winning back-to-back Champions League titles with Barcelona and Inter Milan.
