Schweppes Zimbabwe Spreads Easter Love
Chinyaradzo Children’s Home and Bumhudzo Old People’s Home welcomed the generous gesture made by Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited by gifting them with goodies which coincided with the Easter holiday and women’s month.
Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited Corporate Affairs Executive Ropafadzo Gwanetsa who brought her team to handover beverages such as the famous Mazoe cordials, minute maid and other Schweppes brand beverages. “As Delta Beverages we always reach out to vulnerable communities and extend a helping hand, we are also calling out to other businesses that we together help the needy.
Gogo Samombe who expressed her gratitude for the generous gesture also requested that their bus be fixed for they can no longer go for bus tours around Chitungwiza and Harare, “we are appealing for Schweppes and other well- wishers to help fix our bus which broke down a while ago and because of that we are confined to this place, we cannot go anywhere.”
Bumhudzo Old People’s Home in Chitungwiza is a home for the elderly, the eldest being 106 years followed by 103, 102 and 101 years.
Gogo Betty who is 93 years old has stayed at Bumhudzo for more than 20 years. The home which is run by the Salvation Army Church survives mainly on farming yields and donations.
Their hospital which has been closed for almost eight years needs resuscitation, “in the meantime for medical needs we take them to general hospitals as for prescriptions it is indeed a struggle because we need money for prescriptions,” said Major Chidakwa.
To top it up, Ropafadzo presented the young girls at Chinyaradzo with sanitary pads. The children’s home which is located in Highfields in Harare, is a home for 15 girls and 18 boys who are 17 years old and below.
