Sengezo Tshabangu Expelled from CCC After Misconduct Conviction

Sengezo Tshabangu Expelled from CCC After Misconduct Conviction

Self-styled Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim secretary-general and senator Sengezo Tshabangu has been expelled from the opposition party after being convicted on four counts of misconduct by the disciplinary committee.

The Welshman Ncube-led CCC took decisive action against Tshabangu on Wednesday, a move that could lead to his recall from parliament.

The party’s spokesperson, Willias Madzimure, confirmed the expulsion in a statement, signaling a significant shift within the fractured opposition party.

Tshabangu’s downfall follows months of internal turmoil and accusations of undermining party structures.

His controversial rise to prominence came after he unilaterally recalled several CCC legislators, a move that critics say weakened the party ahead of crucial elections. His actions led to widespread criticism and suspicions of collusion with the ruling ZANU-PF.

The disciplinary committee found him guilty of misconduct, citing actions detrimental to party unity and integrity.

Sources within CCC suggest that his expulsion is part of a broader strategy to consolidate leadership and counter perceived infiltration by external forces.

With Tshabangu’s expulsion, the opposition party now faces the task of stabilizing its ranks while navigating ongoing political challenges.

His potential recall from parliament could further reshape the opposition’s representation in the legislature, as the CCC seeks to rebuild its fractured base.
