In a landmark ruling, 62-year-old Daniel Chauke, a notorious serial rapist, has been sentenced to 133 years in prison following his conviction on seven counts of rape.
This sentence could be extended further if Chauke is also convicted on separate allegations of murdering three women.
Chauke was apprehended two weeks ago after evading law enforcement for over two years.
His arrest marked the end of a prolonged and exhaustive manhunt that spanned multiple jurisdictions and involved various law enforcement agencies.
The conviction came after an intense marathon trial where Chauke consistently denied all allegations against him.
Despite his denials, the court found overwhelming evidence to convict him on seven counts of rape. The trial’s duration and intensity highlighted the gravity of his crimes and the pain inflicted on his victims.
