Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has criticized South African media after reports highlighted Chris Brown’s recent concert at FNB Stadium, which attracted a crowd of 94,000 attendees.
In a social media post, Bushiri recalled hosting his own events at the same venue, where his Crossover Night prayers drew crowds of up to 110,000 people on multiple occasions. He expressed frustration that South African media overlooked his gatherings, despite being publicly acknowledged by FNB management.
“Chris Brown’s concert at FNB Stadium drew a crowd of 94,000, and the media is calling him the biggest crowd puller. It’s shameful,” Bushiri wrote. “They ignore my meetings, where we broke records with 110,000 attendees for four consecutive years. No South African media has reported on it.”
Bushiri also criticized how his events were portrayed, noting that while Chris Brown’s fans were called ‘entertained,’ his followers were labeled as ‘brainwashed.’ He lamented that South African media seemed to prioritize celebrating entertainers while dismissing the influence of religious gatherings. “The media is trying to elevate Chris Brown and push the Gospel aside,” he added.
