Shoko Festival dates set

Organisers of one of Zimbabwe’s leading annual urban culture platforms, Shoko Festival have set September 23 to September 25 as the official dates of this year’s edition of the fete to be held under the theme Come Alive in Harare.
Festival director Sam Monro popularly known as Comrade Fatso said the first two days of the festival would be held at the Zimbabwe Museum before moving to the dormitory town of Chitungwiza for the closing event on the last day.
“The theme Come Alive comes during a tough year for the country and it is a call on festival goers to get inspired and enthralled by an amazing festival experience that brings Zimbabweans together,” said Comrade Fatso.
“With this theme, we are calling for Zimbabweans to come alive amid the challenging times we are living in. It is a call for Zimbabweans to wake up, to live and to celebrate our country.”
Comrade Fatso said they would unveil this year’s headline acts as the festival dates draws closer.
“The objective of Shoko Festival is to create an artistic platform that contributes to the
free expression and artistic development of young people in Zimbabwe,” he said.
Over the years Shoko Festival has grown to be one of the most anticipated festivals in the country. In the past years, the festival has featured celebrated and renowned local and international artistes among them South African rapper Cassper Nyovest and Tumi
Morake, Jamaican singer Tony Rebel and United Kingdom Rodney P who shared the stage with Junior Brown, Tehn Diamond and Ammara Brown.
