Selmor Mtukudzi, daughter of the legendary Zimbabwean musician Oliver Mtukudzi, has taken to social media to express her heartfelt appreciation to her fans for their unwavering support.
In a moving message, Selmor thanked her followers, saying, “To all who spoke up for me, you have been amazing. I’m humbled by the love you have for my father, which has extended over to me. I will not take it for granted.”
Selmor’s words reflect a deep sense of gratitude and humility as she continues to carry the torch of her father’s musical legacy.
She was previously excluded on the line up that is performing at her father’s tribute show. After pressure from the public the organisers lined her up on the show.
Oliver Mtukudzi, affectionately known as “Tuku,” was one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated musicians, whose music transcended borders and touched the lives of millions with its poignant messages of love, hope, and resilience.
Since his passing in 2019, Selmor has been at the forefront, working tirelessly to keep her father’s legacy alive through her music and performances.
In her message, Selmor also announced that she would be performing at Pakare Paya, a music venue and cultural center founded by Oliver Mtukudzi.
Pakare Paya was not just a performance space but a nurturing ground for young talent, embodying Tuku’s vision of giving back to the community. Selmor’s upcoming performance there is a significant nod to her father’s legacy and a testament to her commitment to continue his work.
“For that reason and in honor of my father’s legacy, I will be coming to Pakare Paya. Let’s do this right. I love you all,” Selmor shared, accompanied by a red heart emoji that emphasized her deep affection for her fans.
