Social Media Accused of Igniting Musician Freeman HKD’s Arrest

Dumisani Mthombeni, the lawyer representing popular musician Freeman HKD, has accused social media of playing a significant role in the arrest of his client.
Mthombeni’s claims come in the aftermath of Freeman’s voluntary visit to the Harare Central police station, where he aimed to clarify his alleged association with the now deceased Godfrey Machingura.
The case involving Godfrey Machingura garnered substantial public interest following the publication of an article by H-Metro last week.
The article delved into Freeman’s purported connection with the deceased individual, resulting in the public expressing diverse opinions on the matter.
In response to the mounting public interest and concerns, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) extended an invitation to Freeman for an interview, with the intention of allowing him to provide clarification regarding the alleged association with Godfrey Machingura.
Following the interview, Freeman HKD was questioned by the authorities and subsequently released as part of the ongoing investigation’s due process.
Lawyer Dumisani Mthombeni emphasized that the police were diligently carrying out their duties, ensuring that due process was strictly followed throughout the investigation.
Mthombeni’s statement suggests that Freeman’s visit to the police station was a proactive measure taken by the musician to address the allegations and present his side of the story.
The role of social media in this case has come under scrutiny, with Freeman’s lawyer suggesting that it played a significant role in the musician’s arrest.
However, no further details were provided regarding the specific impact of social media on the case.
As the investigation into Freeman HKD’s alleged association with Godfrey Machingura continues, the public eagerly awaits further updates from the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
Lawyer Dumisani Mthombeni remains confident that the legal process will be meticulously followed, ensuring a fair and just resolution to the case.
