Harare’s music fans gathered on March 29, 2025, at Tudor Valley Guest House in Borrowdale for the 18th edition of Sofar Sounds Harare. The event, known for its secret lineup and intimate setting, provided a memorable afternoon of live performances.
The concert featured a mix of talented performers, including spoken word poet Muvheneki, storyteller and musician Tomas Lutuli Brickhill, and contemporary artist Nasibo, who performed with her sister Simangaliso Mutize. Also on stage was award-winning environmental musician Dereck Mpofu.
The event attracted people from all backgrounds, including diplomats, expatriates, and local music lovers. Guests included representatives from the German and Spanish embassies and the European Union.
Katrin Simon, Head of Culture at the German Embassy, praised the event’s beautiful natural setting and diverse crowd.
Since its launch in 2022, Sofar Sounds Harare has brought intimate, surprise music experiences to the city, featuring artists like Sylent Nqo, Nicholas Mutuwa, and Exodus Chauke. Previous shows have been held in unique venues, from art galleries to embassy residences.

Reflecting on her performance, Muvheneki expressed gratitude for being part of the global Sofar platform, which has also featured stars like Ed Sheeran and Leon Bridges.
On the same day as Harare’s event, Sofar Sounds hosted concerts in India, Spain, Germany, France, Nigeria, Portugal, and Canada. The shows are invite-only, with Harare’s edition currently open to donations via the Sofar Sounds website.
Sofar Sounds Harare is curated by Khumbulani Muleya, who highlighted its ability to bring people together through music. The platform has also partnered with fashion brands like Pezzeculiar and the Fashion Council of Zimbabwe, using music to promote sustainable fashion.
