South Africa Prison Officials Gag Zim Inmate Over Luxury Lifestyle Comments

South Africa Prison Officials Gag Zim Inmate

A Zimbabwean man, Bornface Banks, who trended after releasing a video in a South African prison, has been made to reverse the statements he made by the authorities at the prison. His phone, which he used to record the video, has been confiscated.

Bornface has been serving in prison for the fraud he committed. He posted a video of himself bragging about the lifestyle they have in South African prisons.

The video, which went viral on social media, showed fully furnished cells, a collection of luxury watches, and expensive clothing.

Many have expressed shock and anger over the video, questioning how a prisoner could be living such a life of luxury. Some have criticized the prison system for allowing such extravagance, while others have raised concerns about the potential for corruption and special treatment.

However, others have come to Bornface’s defense, arguing that the video demonstrates the power of positive thinking and making the best of a difficult situation. Bornface himself has spoken out about the video, stating that he is simply trying to make the most of his time behind bars and is not attempting to show off.

Despite the controversy, Bornface’s social media following has surged, with many eager to see more of his life behind bars. The incident has raised questions about the state of prison systems and the treatment of inmates, sparking a wider conversation.

Bornface has issued another statement on video, this time acknowledging that life is hard and there is nothing to cherish in prison.

He is monitored by prison authorities as he retracts his statement about the easy life in South African prisons. His phone has been confiscated.

The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has denounced the actions of Banks, an inmate at Goodwood Correctional Centre.

He uploaded a video saying, “Hello,  haters, you put us in prison thinking we would suffer. But no, my brother, we are doing extremely fine. Look at how happy we are. This morning, we had breakfast; in the afternoon, we had lunch; and we are about to have dinner,” Banks said, laughing with fellow inmates. “We are happy. If you think we are suffering, you are wrong.”
