The Ster-Kinekor Zimbabwe has announced the plan of closing its cinema in Samy Levy Village. This comes after failing to reach an agreement with the owner of the premises for the lease to be extended.
Ster-Kinekor Zimbabwe Samy Levy had been functioning for the last 10 years with many people prefering to visit the place because of its location. The company released a statement alerting the public about the new development and assured the public that the matter would be resolved soon.
In a message the organization wrote We regret to inform you that our Sam Levy Village Cinema lease agreement, which lasted for an impressive 10 years, is expiring on the 30th of June 2024. Unfortunately, the landlord has made the unexpected decision to repurpose the space and shift its focus away from cinema.
Nevertheless, the legacy is far from over and we are actively searching for a new, suitable location to carry on with our innovative business model.
Our hearts are full of gratitude for the memories and joy this cinema has brought to many over the years. For now, we look forward to continue welcoming you to our Bulawayo and Joina City cinemas whilst we finalize on our next location/s.
Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to see you soon!
In a separate story, The African National Congress will go into a coalition government and form a government of national unity (GNU) with all parties advancing South Africa, ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa said on Thursday.
“We have agreed that we will invite political parties to form a government of national unity as the best option to move our country forward,” Ramaphosa said.
The modalities of the government of national unity will take into account the conditions prevailing at this moment in our country’s history. The purpose of this government of national unity must be first and foremost to tackle the pressing issues that South Africans want to be addressed.”
These included job creation and inclusive economic growth, the high cost of living, service delivery, crime and corruption.
