Harare detectives were left shell-shocked after a sting to nab a drug syndicate turned fatal when one of the suspects swallowed drugs to evade arrest.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the tragic incident happened on 19 June 2025 in Manyame Park, Chitungwiza.

He said detectives from CID, Drugs and Narcotics arrested Josephine Tinarwo (55) at her house.
Police records state that she was in possession of a large consignment of Broncleer Cough Syrup.
“Tinarwo implicated Hazel Titya (39) and another suspect.
“On the same day, at around 2100 hours, the suspect was lured to Tinarwo’s residence.
“Sadly, upon arrest, the suspect swallowed some of the drugs she had come to deliver to Tinarwo,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He said the suspect was rushed to Chitungwiza hospital and died upon admission.
