Tacktical Killah with progress on foreign turf

While it is now a public secrete that the birthday bash concept on the showbiz scene has been overused, Cape Town based Tacktical Killah recently proved that it is way beyond the party but the performances also matter.
The young artiste recently gave a stellar performance at his own birthday bash defying odds by pulling huge crowds that are often a preserve of seasoned artistes.
To the advantage of the Highfields bred chanter was the fact that the gig was held in his ‘backyard’ to ensure maximum support.
The venue; Club LaGroto- a pot pourri for all nationals (foreign and local); in the usually sleepy Southern suburbs of Cape Town, Somerset West, scored a double being the artiste’s town of residence.
Free admission for the fairer sex also added zest to the show as they became another draw card.
DJs at the show threw in jam after jam to ensure a flawless before Tacktical Killah wrapped up the night.
The singer told Showbiz he was on cloud nine after what he felt was a flawless show for an artiste of his stature.
“Mudhara (my brother) I am humbled by the attendance and grateful with the fans who have shown utmost support by coming in their numbers. Honestly l did not anticipate a crowd like this considering we just still at the early stages of this music trip,” he said.
Starting off just hanging out with elderly friends in his Fio neighbourhood, Tacktical Killah says he realised his passion from attending the parties hosted by his friends.
But… “The dream came to a standstill as the economic hardships back home just before the inclusive government made it impossible for me to concentrate on my talent. As a man l had to act fast and hustle, just like many others who have left Zim in search of greener pastures”.
He said it was only when he settled and met Oga Sawara, a respected Zim dancehall promoter based in Cape Town, who encouraged him to make use of his talent, that he retraced his footsteps and started by booking recording slots with Sam Cris of the Chill Spot Records.
“I might have not made back home yet as it is a mission to get airplay as a foreign based artiste, but to be honest l am content with the progress l have made so far. Look at this gig which l and members of my stable have put together. Success is a process which requires hard work and patience, for now we are taking baby steps,” he said.
DJ Speed also proved why he is one of the best Zimbabwean DJs based across the Limpopo with a great set.
With the help of Baseline on the mic one could easily mistake their combination to that of the Judgement Yard duo of Etherton Beenie and DJ Flevah who are famed for some of the best reggae/dancehall mixes in Southern Africa.
The diminutive DJ set the bar high on the decks with his midas touch as he cut his one hour long performance to fulfill other commitments elsewhere on the same night.
If Speed upped the tempo then Tacktical Killah nailed it coming back in a fresh costume and gave his A game performing tracks like his fresh single Havatengi doro.
Other artistes that performed on the night are Freeman’s protege Game Boi, Assasin and Mad booy while Agent Bling and Chief Chinamhora joined the inform DJ Speed on the turn tables.
