Tanzanian Diamond in Zimbabwe
By Showbiz Writer
For anyone who is familiar with diamond mining and processing; it should be tantamount to reverse metabolism imagining a fully processed stone to be going back to the fields.
Who could do that?
Wait. We have the answer to that!
One Diamond from Tanzania is visiting Zimbabwe, potentially one of the biggest producers of diamonds in the world; mismanagement aside-and he was expected late Wednesday for a gig at the Harare International Conference Centre Friday.
Ironically, the ill fate that befell the Zimbabwean gems appears to be the same that has characterized the Zimbabwean showbiz scene.
So much potential but not much to talk about on the international scene.
Diamond Platnumz is somewhat aptly named for what he really is currently to the African showbiz scene and that he is coming to Zimbabwe at probably the industry’s lowest moments due to a ‘bland spell’ of creativity (or lack of it); should speak volumes in terms of inspiration for local artistes.
Organiser of the event, Dee Nosh of 2 Kings Entertainment said it was about time that the Tanzanian star played in the country.
“It’s about time!!! Watora Mari Concert is about to happen,” he said refusing to say more.
The artiste will share the stage for the first time with Jah Prayzah with whom he collaborated on the latter’s Watora Mari track after which the concert was named.
Other artistes to perform at the gig include Stunner, Killer T, Ex Q, Trevor Dongo and evergreen sound house Judgement Yard.
Advance Tickets are selling for $10 for regular entry, $20 for VIP and $40 for VVIP and can be purchased at Joina City Mattress Shop, Borrowdale Samsung Shop, Sopranos Avondale, Colousel branches at Eastgate, Westgate, Leopold Takawira, Kwame Nkurumah, Robert Mugabe, Nelson Mandela and Newlands as well as www.webtickets.co.zw.
While Diamond Platnumz has a proven track record shuttering several records in his home country which has a bigger population than Zimbabwe, he will sure find himself in unfamiliar territory with the hard to please Zimbabwean audiences.
That he is a Diamond (plus platinum) is no doubt but every show goer’s hope is he will not appear like a #bonddiamond come Friday.
Nevertheless with Stars Night Club up and running, it is bound to be a night to remember with DJs, L Roy, Storm, Killer Kelly and Dee Nosh on standby for the after party.
