Duties and Responsibilities: The Head Mechanic serves as the linchpin for HALO’s mechanical operations. Tasked with managing a team of mechanics, their duties encompass a broad spectrum of responsibilities:
Mechanic Management:
- Leading and guiding mechanics to ensure adherence to job standards and priorities.
- Conducting workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Planning and managing mechanics’ work both at headquarters and in the field.
- Ensuring seamless operation even during mechanic leave or emergencies.
Vehicle Repair and Maintenance:
- Conducting thorough inspections, servicing, and repairs of all vehicles and machinery.
- Implementing strict maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Prioritizing safety critical repairs and overseeing all major vehicle assessments.
Workshop Maintenance:
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment.
- Conducting regular audits and serviceability checks of tools and equipment.
- Liaising with external suppliers for outsourcing work when necessary.
Stores, Purchasing, and Supplier Liaison:
- Leading assessments of new vehicles before purchase.
- Assessing supplier technical ability and maintaining relationships.
