The NACZ Appoints Napoleon Nyanhi as New Director

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) Board has appointed Napoleon Nyanhi as its new director.

He succeeds Mr. Nicholas Moyo, who is now the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts, and Culture, since October 2023.

The NACZ, an organization committed to fostering creative quality throughout the country, is sure that Mr. Nyanhi’s leadership will help the Council achieve its strategic objectives, stakeholder demands, and restructuring vision. Napoleon Nyanhi brings a plethora of experience and knowledge to his new position and is well-versed in the arts and culture.

Prior to this, Mr. Nyanhi was Executive Director of the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) since 2019 and Managing Director of Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation (JCMC). One of the largest talent search programs in Zimbabwe, Dreamstar Zimbabwe, was produced by JCMC under his direction. Nyanhi has had a number of prominent positions in the media and arts sector, such as C Media Africa’s Production Manager, Capitalk FM’s Founding Station Manager, and Star FM’s Programming Manager.

His educational background is equally impressive, with degrees and certifications from Africa University, Clark Atlanta University, the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of Westminster, and most recently, a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance from Midlands State University.

Throughout his professional life, Nyanhi has shown that he has a deep appreciation for the ability of the arts to inspire, inform, and bring people together. There is ample evidence of his dedication to promoting innovation, variety, and sustainability in Zimbabwe’s cultural milieu.

Nyanhi’s new position as director will entail carrying out the NACZ’s strategic direction, cultivating relationships with significant stakeholders, and promoting the value of the arts in society. The purpose of the Council, which is to encourage and promote the growth of the arts for the benefit of all Zimbabweans, is anticipated to be greatly advanced under his leadership.
