About Zawadi Africa:

The Zawadi Africa Education Fund is a scholarship program meticulously crafted to empower academically gifted girls from underprivileged backgrounds in Africa.

This initiative aims to facilitate their pursuit of higher education in the U.S.A, Uganda, Ghana, South Africa, and Kenya. Rooted in the success of the Kennedy/Mboya Student airlifts of the 1960s, Zawadi Africa forges partnerships with individuals and institutions that share a commitment to educational empowerment.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Completed secondary school examination (e.g., The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination – KCSE).
  • Demonstrated academic excellence (A Plain or A Minus).
  • Displayed leadership qualities, whether in school (as a prefect), community, church, or peer-related activities.
  • Overcame significant challenges, such as financial constraints, oppressive social-cultural practices (early marriages, Female Genital Mutilation – FGM), to achieve academic excellence.
  • Hailing from a financially disadvantaged background.
  • Clearly demonstrated financial need.
