A truck driver was attacked by armed robbers just 30 minutes before Rusape River earlier today, in a brazen assault that left him injured and requiring urgent medical attention.
The incident occurred near the VID checkpoint along the Rusape-Harare road, where a group of armed men ambushed the vehicle.
The truck, which was en route from Harare, was carrying the driver and two passengers. As the vehicle approached the VID checkpoint, four to five individuals were seen waiting by the roadside.

The robbers, armed and determined, quickly surrounded the truck, forcing it to stop before launching their attack.
Fortunately, the driver was rescued by passersby who witnessed the commotion and rushed to intervene. The robbers, however, fled the scene before they could be apprehended, escaping into the surrounding area.
Emergency services were immediately called to the site, and the driver was rushed to Rusape Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. His condition is reported to be stable, although he suffered several injuries during the attack.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is yet to give a report about this incident. The nation has been experiencing several incident similar to this one.
