The Tshiamiso Trust, a pioneering organization dedicated to providing compensation to former mine workers suffering from silicosis and tuberculosis, has taken a significant step forward by seeking qualified service providers in Zimbabwe.
Following productive discussions with the Zimbabwean government, the Trust is now poised to process compensation claims for ex-Wenela mine workers .
According to Dr. Munyadziwa Kwinda, the Trust’s CEO, Zimbabwe has long been a focal point for their compensation efforts. “We’re committed to ensuring that ex-Wenela mine workers and their families receive the support they deserve,” he emphasized.
To achieve this goal, the Trust is looking for service providers to offer centralized locations for claimants to submit documents and undergo biometric verification, as well as thorough medical assessments to determine eligibility for compensation .

The Tshiamiso Trust boasts an impressive track record, having paid out R1.77 billion (over $100 million USD) to 19,000 beneficiaries across South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Eswatini since its establishment in 2021.
To ensure the claims process runs smoothly, Dr. Kwinda stressed the importance of finding the right service providers, emphasizing that there will be a thorough accreditation, on-boarding, and quality control process.
Interested parties can review requirements in the Request for Proposals document on the Tshiamiso Trust website and register for the mandatory online briefing on October 4, 2024 . With the right service providers on board, the Trust is set to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
