A serious crash occurred on the N3 highway near the Chatterton offramp in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday morning, involving two trucks and a bakkie.
Emergency response teams from KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service were quick to attend to the scene, where they found nine individuals injured, including one person trapped inside a vehicle. The paramedics, along with Fire and Rescue Services, used specialized equipment to extricate the trapped person while working to stabilize the others.
All the injured individuals were later transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
This incident follows another deadly accident on the N2 near Fairbreeze in Durban on Thursday, November 29. A head-on collision between a bakkie and a truck resulted in two fatalities. The driver and a passenger in the bakkie were confirmed dead at the scene, while a third passenger sustained moderate injuries. The truck driver and passenger suffered only minor injuries.
