In a stunning turn of events, former Zimbabwe international footballer Khama Billiat has inked a deal with Walter Magaya-owned Yadah FC, breaking the suspense that had enveloped his future in the sport.

Billiat’s contract with South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Kaizer Chiefs had expired in June 2023, with the player opting not to renew due to salary disputes. Despite training stints with SuperSport United and speculations of joining Harare giants Dynamos, Billiat’s future remained uncertain until now.

Reports emerged last week suggesting a potential move to Dynamos, igniting excitement among fans. However, Yadah FC and Manica Diamonds threw their hats into the ring, intensifying the competition for Billiat’s signature.

Ultimately, it was Yadah FC that secured the deal, with details of the contract remaining undisclosed. Sports reporter Makomborero Mutimukulu disclosed that Billiat would sign with Yadah FC and subsequently be loaned to Dynamos FC.

Billiat’s arrival at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport last night was met with a mix of anticipation and curiosity. Supporters from rival clubs, including Dynamos, Caps United, and Ngezi Platinum Stars, were present, alongside Yadah FC chairman Admire Mango, to welcome the player.

However, the news of Billiat’s move stirred a storm on social media, with Zimbabweans expressing varied opinions:

User “Token of appreciation to Dembare. Well done Magaya.” commended both Dynamos and Yadah FC.

Gerald remarked, “Yadah is showing gratitude for what was done to make it play in Division 1.”

Phillip speculated about political influences, suggesting, “I had seen that there are some ZANU guys behind this Khama issue because Dynamos alone cannot afford to pay Khama.”

Paidamoyo drew parallels between Yadah and Dynamos, hinting at past encounters between the two clubs.

Gondai argued, “Yadah has the financial capacity to pay his salaries… simple as that. It makes sense, Dynamos can’t afford Khama, period.”

Tichaona injected humor, asking, “What does Yadah have up its sleeve now? Drama in football.”

As Khama Billiat embarks on this new chapter in his career, the football fraternity eagerly awaits to witness the impact of his presence at Yadah FC and Dynamos FC.
