Prominent Zimbabwean businessman and banker Wicknell Chivayo has strongly denied claims that he requested Ecobank to raise the monthly cash withdrawal limit for his companies’ accounts to $20 million.
Reports had linked Chivayo, representing IMC Technologies Incorporated, to a letter allegedly dated December 5, 2024. This document suggested that his firm had secured a $100 million contract with the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Technology to supply essential hardware, software, and other critical resources.
In response, Chivayo took to X (formerly Twitter) to reject these allegations, labeling them as baseless and fraudulent he said:
“DESPERATE AND SHAMEFUL… I’ve been made aware of poorly FORGED letters circulating on social media, falsely alleging that I requested an increase in the withdrawal limits of accounts supposedly held at EcoBank under the names of IMC Communications and Eden Breeze (Pty) Ltd. I categorically DENY these false allegations and firmly assert that I have NEVER signed, authored, or authorized any such letters or requests.
These documents are CLEAR FORGERIES, crafted to maliciously harm my personal and business reputation and mislead the public.
I have, both in business and philanthropy. It is widely recognized that neither the opposition party’s PRESIDENT nor its leadership has ever been hosted by any Head of State, highlighting their inadequacy and fueling their bitterness towards my recent engagements with foreign leaders.
While I take pride in being a HARD-WORKING and SUCCESSFUL businessman, the inflated figures mentioned in the fabricated letters far exceed my reality. One must question why anyone would need such exorbitant amounts of cash in an age where PLASTIC MONEY and WIRE TRANSFERS are the norm.
The underlying motive can only be attributed to the animosity stemming from my exercise of my CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to support the political party and PRESIDENT of my choice. I will continue to back PRESIDENT E.D. MNANGAGWA and ZANU PF’s vision, and no individual, regardless of their stature, can intimidate me into changing that stance. I remain UNDAUNTED by any insidious threats from unsuccessful opposition figures.
It’s important to recognize that not everyone can achieve EQUALITY, particularly if they do not exert the effort to WORK HARD, are not BRAVE enough to pursue opportunities, or lack INNOVATION to create avenues that benefit our beloved nation, ZIMBABWE. I can thrive in any environment.
I made my first ONE MILLION RAND at 19 and my first ONE MILLION USD at 23. When I confidently state my goal of becoming a BILLIONAIRE by the age of 50, does anyone truly believe I am selling TOMATOES at a market or supplying GROCERIES to local shops? I am not a LAWYER earning USD 1,000 for three days of argumentation on a client’s behalf…
Let it be clear now and always: ALL contracts executed or to be executed by my companies in KENYA, SOUTH AFRICA, TANZANIA, UGANDA, or ZIMBABWE are awarded SOLELY based on COMPETENCE, PROFESSIONALISM, and adherence to proper and IMPECCABLE procurement procedures. The reputable organizations I associate with ensure that only the HIGHEST STANDARDS are upheld.”
