Winky D, AKA & Ammara Brown headline Shoko Fest

It will be nothing but fireworks on the opening night of Shoko Festival 2016 as hotshots Winky D, and South African hip-hop sensation AKA will be slaying it up on the big stage!

This exciting news was announced on Wednesday morning at the Shoko Festival press briefing by festival director, Sam Monro aka Cde Fatso.

“AKA is currently heating up the charts with his singles Dreamwork and One Time which debuted at number one on iTunes and continues to take over the charts in Africa and the UK,” said Monro.

“The Ninja president, Winky D has been making peoples problems disappear with his catchy songs and is one of Zimbabwe’s most loved artistes. His epic inaugural performance at Shoko this year is in partnership with Zambezi Magic and DStv.

“Saturday night we will be featuring none other than the sensational Zimbabwean songstress Ammara Brown who is riding high with her hit single Mukoko and with her vibrant dance moves, her performance is set to be a crowd thriller.”

The sixth edition of the festival will run from September 23-25 under thy theme Come Alive with the main base being the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences while the traditional Peace in the Hood Concert, in Chitungwiza on the final day.

“We really hope to build on this momentum this year and we are also maintaining the one ticket access for all shows idea we also introduced last year. So for $10 one can get access to all shows on the day,” said Cde Fatso.

“Students will have to present their valid school identification cards and they will be paying $5 for two.”

Monro added that they will be revealing more acts performing at the festival very soon but confirmed that the satirical comedy crew of Zambezi News will be performing.

“There will definitely be more dancehall acts involved in Shoko Festival this year and we will be revealing more international artistes especially in the comedy section that are going to be performing at Shoko.”
