Showmax has just unveiled the trailer for the third and final season of its Nigerian Original telenovela, Wura, which debuts on Monday, September 23, 2024, with two new episodes every week.
The Season 3 teaser begins up just where the plot left off, with Tumi and Jeje’s wedding causing a sensation across Iperindo. However, unforeseen circumstances develop, jeopardizing their relationship, including ghosts from both of their pasts. Meanwhile, Wura’s carefully crafted empire crumbles, as her adversaries close in and prepare to strike.
The award-winning drama returns with new plotlines, transporting viewers to the tense world of Wura, where power, betrayal, and dark secrets converge in the most thrilling series finale yet.
“The finale is packed with compelling plots and intricate character developments that will leave fans in awe,” says showrunner Rogers Ofime.
“The entire production team has given their all, and I can confidently say that this season will deliver breathtaking performances that will linger in the minds of viewers long after the credits roll,” said the executive producer.
Wura’s Season 1 introduced fans to the powerful yet vicious Wura-Amoo Adeleke, the immovable CEO of Frontline Gold Mine. As she navigates the hurdles of running her mining empire in Iperindo, Osun State, Wura goes to whatever length to maintain her legacy, often crossing ethical lines and making enemies in the process.
Season 2’s fascinating story revolved around her complex relationships, notably those with her family, and the dark truths that threaten to unravel her carefully created world. The first two seasons gripped spectators with dramatic twists and intense confrontations, demonstrating the lengths Wura will go to protect her dominance, paving the way for an even more explosive third season.
Since its release in 2023, the series has been the most-watched title on Showmax in Nigeria, with a dedicated cult following. It also charted in Ghana and Kenya.
Wura continues to earn industry recognition, with the lead actress, Scarlet Gomez, receiving nominations in 2023 for Best Actress in a Drama, Movie, or TV Series at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) and Acting at the 17th edition of The Future Awards Africa Awards. The title was nominated for Best Writing TV Series and Best Scripted Series at the 2024 AMVCAs, while it won Best Web Series at the Gage Awards in 2024.
Season 3 of Wura, starring Scarlet Gomez, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Martha Ehinome, Ray Adeka, Ego Ihenacho, Lanre Adediwura, Iremide Adeoye, Modesinuola Ogundiwin, Toluwani George, and other talented cast members, promises to deliver more drama, suspense, and unexpected twists that fans have come to love.
