They reportedly misrepresented to ARDA that they possessed irrigated land in Hurungwe and Karoi, leading to the wrongful acquisition of fertilizers, seeds, and chemicals from the program.

“They are accused of deceitfully obtaining farming inputs from the ARDA Joint Venture Programme by falsely asserting ownership of irrigated land in Hurungwe and Karoi,” the report states.

It further notes that they received fertilizers, seeds, and chemicals, which they subsequently sold. Additionally, Gombe faces charges of money laundering for allegedly using the ill-gotten gains to acquire assets.

Authorities allege that he used the illicit proceeds obtained from the fraudulent scheme to acquire assets, constituting the offense of money laundering under Zimbabwean law.

The individuals are scheduled to appear in Karoi Magistrate Court today for initial remand.
