DStv’s Zambezi Magic has partnered with the Zimbabwe International Film Festival Trust to provide sponsorship support for the 18th Zimbabwe International Film Festival, which runs in Harare from October 1 to 8.

Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe said Zambezi Magic and ZIFFT are each dedicated to the purpose of helping to develop on-screen talent in Zimbabwe and it is natural for the two to link up under the umbrella of the film festival.

“Zambezi Magic, a platform for showcasing film and television talent and productions from Southern Africa, including Zimbabwe is proud to be partners in this well-known and prestigious event,” she said.

The festival will run under the theme Reel Sound And Music, highlighting the important roles of sound and music in quality and wholesome films and will feature more than 50 films from more than 20 countries, to be screened at venues across greater Harare through-out the eight days.
Highlights will include the opening night, embassy national days, the awards night and closing night, the screenings of the Hoche-Khotshe series of shorts produced by ZIFFT with partners Amakhosi and Rooftop Promotions.

The much-anticipated Hi-5 short film competition will return and emerging Zimbabwean filmmakers have been finishing their submission projects ahead of the September 30 deadline in the hope of winning the prizes on offer.

Support programs like Outreach to Educate will facilitate screenings and workshops in high density areas.

The Film Forum will present an exciting industry program featuring workshops, seminars, discussions, pitch sessions and collaboration among industry stakeholders.

A full catalogue detailing the program is available online at the Zimbabwe International Film and Festival Trust website, www.zifft.org.

“We look forward to yet another exciting and valuable platform for showcasing the best in arts and entertainment and to the possibility that some of the work highlighted in the festival will make its way on to Zambezi Magic, and therefore to a wider continental audience,” said Dziva.
