Zambia has summoned Zimbabwe’s ambassador, Her Excellency Charity Angelina Charamba, to express their displeasure over President ED Mnangagwa’s comments in Russia last month.

Stability in the region has been threatened by the tense relationship between Southern African Development Community (SADC) members Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Zambia has been threatening to boycott the SADC meeting, which is scheduled for Harare next month. Some Zambian politicians want the conference’s venue changed for their safety.

” The SADC Summit venue must be changed from Harare to Johannesburg, Windhoek or Gaborone. We dont trust Harare, which three weeks ago in Russia used divisive remarks to divide the region . Harare will be a hostile host to the Zambian and Malawian delegation”, said Zambian politician in a post on X

We eagerly anticipate the African Union’s answer to this grievance as it walks the fine line of regional diplomacy. The circumstances emphasize the necessity of diplomatic efforts and constructive communication to settle conflicts and preserve peace among member states.
