ZB Financial Holdings Empowers SMEs through Expo
ZB Financial Holdings took a significant step in supporting the growth and development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by hosting an SME Expo at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo.
This event, which highlighted the critical role of SMEs in the economy, aimed to empower small businesses by providing a platform to showcase products and services, along with a workshop focused on business development.
The non-executive director of ZB Financial Holdings Limited, Tenjiwe Sibanda, emphasized the importance of this exhibition.
“As we all know, SMEs are the backbone of our economy, driving innovation, job creation, and economic progress. At ZB, we recognize the critical role you play and are dedicated to empowering you with the necessary tools and resources to succeed.”
Sibanda underscored ZB Financial Holdings’ vision of improving lives through service. “We aim to equip SMEs with financial literacy, funding options, and account opening opportunities.

The Expo provided a unique platform for networking and exchanging business ideas, enabling participants to showcase their products and services to a wider audience. Sibanda highlighted the event’s design to foster collaboration, learning, and growth. “We are confident that it will be a resounding success.”
She extended her gratitude to the Chief Customer Experience Officer, Chief Executive Officer of Banking, General Manager, and the entire ZB team for their efforts in making the event a reality. “Your dedication to serving our customers and supporting SMEs is truly commendable. To our SMEs, we believe in your potential and are committed to supporting your journey.”
The Expo featured representatives from various government departments, including the Ministry of Provincial Affairs and Devolution, the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Bulawayo City Council officials were also in attendance, along with Chief Customer Experience Officer Dr. Brilliant Shumba and Chief Executive Officer of ZB Bank, Mr. Elisha Chibvuri.
Guest speaker Coustine Ngwenya, Chairperson of the Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs, praised ZB Financial Holdings for organizing the Expo. “We commend ZB Financial Holdings for creating such an opportunity. I am sure the theme for the Expo, ‘Accelerating Growth of SMEs Through Financial Partnerships’ will energize all of us. Access to affordable finance, training, and market opportunities are key growth drivers for SMEs. We urge ZB Bank to continue developing innovative products tailored to the specific needs of SMEs.”
Ngwenya noted the participation of 60 SMEs in the exhibition and appreciated ZB Bank’s support. “We would like to thank and appreciate ZB Bank for this opportunity. I am informed that ZB Bank has a unit taking care of SMEs; let us utilize its services.”
The Expo aligns with National Development Strategy One and the SMEs Policy, contributing to the fulfillment of National Vision 2030, as guided by President Comrade E.D. Mnangagwa. Ngwenya expressed a desire for ongoing collaboration with ZB Bank and other stakeholders to build a brighter future for SMEs in Zimbabwe. “We appreciate the assistance we are receiving from all government departments.”
The next ZBFH SME Conference & Expo is scheduled to take place at ZB Sports Club Harare on June 21 and 22, 2024, promising another opportunity for SMEs to gain essential support and resources for their growth.
