The Zimbabwe Championships for Performance Arts team that is currently at the world championships of performing arts in Hollywood have shined again with at least two making it into the finals scheduled for Saturday.
Guitar Sangoma, Sylent Nqo Nqo and model and journalist Timothy Hogo all made it into the top three of their respective categories while beat boxer Denzel Takudzwa “Probeatz” Mashonganyika slipped at the semi-finals held today.
Team manager Zandile Zaza Ndlovu said the team was really excited that they have made it into the final.
“For the next two days they will be in boot camp where they will get training from top personnel from Hollywood who know the industry in terms of showbiz while they prepare for the showcase which is the finale on Saturday July 16,” Zaza said.
“This is an event that will be streamed online so at least the whole world including back home in Zimbabwe and you can follow what is going on in terms of all the action.”
Zaza said although they were a bit disturbed that Probeatz did not make it into the finale, the morale in the camp was still high and they were still going for gold.
“His group that he was competing against, that is the Vocal section was a really tough group, intense and it is always sad when one of our members does not make it into the finale but all the same we are really still proud of Probeatz and we are very proud of Tafadzwa Guzha who is our female model who did really well. They represented the country really well. We are still flying the Zimbabwe flag high,” she said.
Zaza said despite their small number of six compared to other countries that have over 150 participants, they were getting a lot of support from the Zimbabwean community that is sending them messages and calling.
