Zimbabwe is set to become a key center of creativity and culture with the launch of the SUPERMODEL competition, which aims to draw global attention to Africa’s growing fashion industry.
This innovative project looks for and nurtures local talent, offering winners the opportunity to be seen internationally and land deals with major multinational companies and agencies.
The ladies behind SUPERMODEL are Karin Coric, Paidemoyo Chideya, Tanya Chikuni, and Cayla Zieve.
The SUPERMODEL competition will serve as a platform for showcasing the attractiveness, skill, and individuality of aspiring models from Zimbabwe. It is welcoming to individuals, minimum age 16 years old, of all of all sizes, races, and origins, and strives to support the regional fashion design sector.
Beginning in Bulawayo on July 6, 2024, a statewide search will be conducted to launch the competition. Participants will face a variety of live tasks over the course of the next three months, such as go-sees, catwalks, face challenges, and auditions. On the schedule are:

Victoria Falls, July 27
August 17: Masvingo
August 24: Harare
October 5: Harare Semi-Finals
1 March 2025: Closing
“The competition’s agency, SUPERMODEL, will present the twenty finalists and provide them with possibilities to work in various capacities within the modeling business. The program will help participants develop their skills and gain business knowledge to help them launch successful careers in the fashion industry.” Tanya said.
The SUPERMODEL brand seeks to showcase the wide range of creative abilities in Zimbabwe, encompassing photography, fashion design, makeup artistry, and film. Additionally, it backs the Wear Zimbabwe initiative, which encourages local fashion and fosters the expansion of the sector.
The organizers are looking for community support to help realize this vision, pointing out that this endeavor needs to be nurtured and elevated together. SUPERMODEL wants to show off Zimbabwe’s incredible beauty and talent through the journey, and they want everyone to be a part of this exciting endeavor by watching and participating.
