Gigue Mine

An attempted robbery at Gigue Mine took a fatal turn when one of the intruders was shot in the head while attempting to rob mine owner Chinai Chamanga, 48, of Rockwood Concession, Mazowe.

According to Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha, the acting spokesperson for the ZRP Mashonaland Central, the incident occurred on November 11 at around 9:30 PM. Chinai and his wife, Mirica Chamanga, 49, were asleep when Mirica was awakened by the sound of someone trying to force open their door. She asked who was there, but received no response.

The armed robbers then broke into the bedroom, carrying a 9mm Retay MOD 92 pistol, an axe, and a screwdriver. They ordered the couple to lie down, but Mirica hesitated, wanting to get dressed first. This angered the attackers, who began to assault her.
