An interdenominational organisation which is pushing for the empowerment of girls and women has launched the ‘Women’s Billionaire Club’.
The Council for Churches in Africa Women Fellowship Madam General, Prophetess Faith Moyo told delegates at the launch in Harare to embrace the various schemes under the club to extricate themselves from poverty.
“This Women’s Billionaire Club like the name suggests is for you women to think big when it comes to starting businesses .
” Its an opportunity for you to network with various wealthy women and share ideas on how to grow your businesses. The times to depend on your husbands are over,” she said.
The CCA Women’s Fellowship president also said negotiations are underway for the government to avail land to women members of the organisation.
” We have already started to engage with government such that we get you land for residential and commercial purposes,”Dr Prophetess Moyo added.
The Women’s Billionaire Club has 10 schemes which include housing, borehole drilling, motor vehicle purchasing, poultry and solar system installation.
A number of women at the launch said they were gearing to be members of the initiative for them to be self-reliant and be able to support their families.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch, Prophetess Faith Moyo says she was inspired by Martin Luther King’s famous ‘I have a dream’ speech.
“When I look how it all started, I had a dream and believed in Martin Luther King when he said if you have a dream run with it.
” Here is my dream to empower women particularly young women who have been victims of abuse because they lack financial support, “she cited.
The organisation is launching the clubs in various provinces accross the country,so far it has launched in Harare and Bulawayo.
