Drug Trafficking Associate of Levels and DJ Fantan Reportedly on the Run

Simbarashe Chanachimwe, otherwise known as Dhama, has become a wanted man following a nationwide crackdown on drug peddlers by the government.

The campaign, dubbedNo to dangerous drugs and illicit substances: See something, say something, has gained the full support of the authorities.

The trio of DJ Fantan, DJ Levels and Dhama, who captured the publics attention in 2020 for organising a crossover gig in Mbares Matapi Flats on New Years eve, despite the lockdown protocols in place, were found guilty of their own plea and sentenced to one year in jail.

Six months of the sentence were set aside on the condition that they would not commit a similar offence within that period.

DJ Fantan and Levels were released on $10 000 bail each, pending an appeal by High Court judge Justice Davison Foroma.

Upon their release, they issued a public apology for breaching Covid19 regulations. Meanwhile, Dhama is said to have gone into hiding and eluded the long arm of the law.

Permanent secretary for the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana, confirmed on Tuesday that Dhama was wanted by police.

After being asked if Dhama had been arrested, Nick Mangwana responded:

I hear he can’t be located. Possibly on the run.

He is alleged to have been involved in the dealing and trafficking of illicit and banned substances. The outcome of the appeal by DJ Fantan and Levels resulted in a fine of $2 000 each. Mystery still remains as to the whereabouts of Dhama.
