Former NetOne Worker Allegedly Stole Thousands Through Forgery and Fraud

Takudzwashe Malamulo, a 27-year-old former employee of NetOne, is facing charges of defrauding the telecommunications company of US$18,666 and ZWL$14,430,529 through fraudulent schemes.

The allegations were reported by The Herald.

Malamulo, who previously worked as a filing clerk at NetOne’s Harare headquarters, recently appeared before Magistrate Rufaro Panavanhu and was released on bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for later this month.

The complaint was lodged by Reggis Takaiteyi Chitekwe, a regional loss control officer for NetOne.

Prosecutor Takudzwa Jambawu informed the court that between January 2023 and January 2024, Malamulo allegedly exploited his position to generate fake requisitions for purchasing equipment. He is accused of manipulating the company’s petty cash system and forging his superiors’ signatures to approve these fraudulent transactions.
