Kudzai Ngoni Nyamasoka, the pastor of FAITH Ministries International, was taken before the court yesterday due to a disagreement over a plot of land across from his Mbare church.
Kudzai Ngoni Nyamasoka was granted US$200 bail after appearing before magistrate Dennis Mangosi. The State, represented by Mbare District Officer Milion Sambona, is the complainant in this case.
The accusations are related to a dispute that Faith Ministries International got involved in over a plot of land next to its church in January of this year. True Believers International Ministries had a temporary lease on the land from the City of Harare. Faith Ministries International had been utilizing the property as a parking lot for its members before this agreement.
Faith Ministries International made an unsuccessful application in March to extend their church property into the same site. Nyamasoka is said to have started harassing True Believers International Ministries members after this rejection. He is charged with using unidentified people posing as police and intelligence personnel to threaten opposing church members and municipal officials, pressuring them to leave the property.

According to reports, Nyamasoka started phoning council members last month under the guise of Phiri, a representative of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), and threatening to withdraw the land grant to True Believers International Ministries. Additionally, he is said to have called True Believers International Ministries pastor John Chitumba and identified himself as Phiri from ZACC.
On May 10, Nyamasoka sent a letter to the District Officer, warning him to stop the land allocation to True Believers International Ministries, claiming the matter was under investigation by ZACC. He delivered this letter to the City of Harare Mbare District Office.
